Little River Falls

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

Betsy 'kidnapped' me last Friday and we headed to Fort Payne, Alabama.  Before we checked into our hotel we visited Little River Canyon National Preserve a few miles outside the town.

We first stopped at Little River Falls.  We had been there a few years ago, but this time we found a good water flow and a new boardwalk and observation platform.  I got this photo from the new observation deck.

Grand Canyon

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

I was going through my archives a few days ago and I came across this photo taken during our trip to the Grand Canyon in June, 2011.  This photo was taken near the Bright Angel trailhead on the edge of the Grand Canyon Village.  I was hiking along the Rim Trail instead of going down into the canyon, but I would sure like to go back and hike down into the canyon.

Sempervivum

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

We have Sempervivum -- Hens and Chicks -- growing in several places around our yard.  Sempervivum requires little care and looks good throughout the year.  We have several different varieties with different forms and colors, but we think they all look beautiful.

Serenity Falls

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

Betsy usually arranges a short get-away for my birthday. Three years ago she got us into a neat little cabin overlooking Serenity Falls.  This is a pretty little waterfall in the Smoky Mountains near Cosby, Tennessee.

Betsy has a new photo blog, which I'm sure you will enjoy.  You can find it by clicking HERE.

Mt. Nebo Sunset

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

This picture shows one of the reasons we keep going back to Mt. Nebo in Arkansas.  I captured the setting sun over the mountains to the west from the back porch of 'our' cabin.  I'm pretty sure we'll be going back again.

Wild Carnival Daffodil

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

Daffodils are a good sign that Spring is definitely on the way.  This daffodil, Wild Carnival, brightens the flower bed on the side of the house.  This picture is from my archives.

Crooked Creek Falls

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

Crooked Creek Falls is one of the waterfalls in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas that Betsy and I visited in 2010 on our way to Mount Nebo.  We had to take Forest Service roads into the mountains to find this waterfall, but when we got there we had it to ourselves.  Life doesn't get much better than that.
