Galveston 2009

While we were in Texas Betsy's son took us down to Galveston. We saw evidence of the destruction caused by Hurricane Ike, but we also saw that much cleanup had been done. Further down the island we stopped at the beach shown in the picture above. There was no sign of any damage -- just a beautiful beach on which to fish or just to relax and enjoy the sky and the sea.

I'm glad to hear that Gavelston is on the mend. There was so much damage after Hurricane Ike I wondered if they would ever be able to salvage that city.

Its nice to see that the beach is getting back to normal again. Hurricanes are very destructive. We have had them here too.

Very nice picture, and it looks like a great shelling area too.

Very beautiful and peaceful view! What a difference compared to the remaining damages I saw on Betsy's blog. Have a great day, George :)

The beach looks now very peaceful, doesn't it?. There are many shades of blue in this photo that makes it so beautiful! Thanks for sharing and for your comment on my blog.

We were going to go camping on the beach in Dec. The campgrounds are closed from the last hurricane.

Looks like there are some fishermen waiting for that big catch of the day! Beautiful weather you were having that day!

The beach looks much better than I would have expected. I'm glad they've got at least part of the island cleaned up.

Beautiful! I am glad that much clean up and restoration has been done. Sometimes, it is so difficult to get over nature's devastation. We have much in the Philippines every year, but thankfully not in Manila.

I've been to Galvaston! Nice shot with great colors. I remember how surprised I was at the beach when I saw how people could just drive their cars right onto the sand and up to the water! Not here in Norcal!
Thanks for the comment on My World post.

Hi George, we live an hour away from Galveston. We experienced power outage for a whole week, caused by hurricane Ike.

Nice shot -even better when I enlarged it! Nice blue sky!
