The View From Balsam Mountain

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

On our trip to Maggie Valley last month, we took a side trip off the Blue Ridge Parkway to Balsam Mountain in North Carolina. This is the view of the Smokies from Mile High Overlook along Balsam Mountain Road.

I Googled it, and there's no such word as Balsam! Perhaps everyone who lives there puts balsamic vinagrette on their salad. Hmmm. I thought there was Balsam wood...

Balsam put me in mind of Christmas trees. I've always liked the fragrance of balsam.
Beautiful, George.

Oh my, words can barely describe how gorgeous that is. It's almost like it's a painting because it's too beautiful to be real.
