Biltmore House was the country home built by George Vanderbilt between 1889 and 1895 near Asheville, North Carolina. I left Betsy near the fountain on the Esplanade to go to a higher vantage point to get this picture of the house and the mountains under a blue sky with clouds moving in. (That's Betsy taking pictures near the driveway on the left.)

It been around for a very long time and it still looks gorgeous. Asheville is a beautiful area to visit.

What a gorgeous photo! I love the sky. I cannot imagination living in such a huge place.
Now that's a "quaint" country cottage. Do you happen to know who lives there? Since you are in Tennessee, thought it might be some country singer.

George you always have your camera around for some of the best shots ever. What happened that you did not catch Betsy and her mess?

George, whenever I think of Biltmore and all those log fireplaces, I think what a chore it must have been to keep enough firewood cut so as to keep a modicum of warmth in that old stone building. I'm glad I was not one of Vanderbilt's servants, for sure!!!

Did Betsy know you were taking her photo? This was one of the things my photography club teacher taught us, take some one taking photos.

Spectacular shot. It is a true mansion.
Very nice pics. We should have stopped there on our way to meet someone in D.C. But time constraints sad no so it was missed. A good excuse to go back to the Blue Ridge and see it.
I love. Old houses this looks like one of the French castles I saw in 2009. It's beautiful! Have a great Christmastime together with Betsy.
