The Painted Desert from Kachina Point

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it. Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

We came upon this view of the Painted Desert while on a short hike at Kachina Point in Petrified Forest National Park.

********************

My Blogging Muse has become about as dry and unproductive as our yard and garden, so Betsy and I have decided to take a blogging break. I'm not sure what (if anything) we'll do other than trying to keep our roses and other plants alive. If my Muse cooperates, I'll be back the last week of September.

Are there iron in the red soil? My husband went to Australia, and he said the redness is made from iron.

Great shot. I took a bloggy break a few months back but then I realised just how much I missed writing my nonsense and had to come back.

Take it easy and enjoy your break.

Nice viewpoint. I remember it being rather flat there. And a bit otherworldly. See you later this month!

Happy to see this photo because the kids and didn't get to see the painted desert. Looks like we'll both be making return trips to see the things we couldn't fit into the itinerary this time around.

This photo is really beautiful! The colors are just amazing!
