Smokies Morning

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it. Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

Earlier this month Betsy and I got up before dawn so we could see some of the autumn color of the Smokies in the morning light. It was cloudy overnight, but the sky was expected to clear during the day. The clouds were still brushing the mountain tops, but the light was breaking through the clouds when we arrived at this overlook on the Gatlinburg Bypass.

Nad górami jest jasno, dlatego tak wyraźnie widać ich szczyty :-). Pozdrawiam

What if we are at the top of the mountain?

to answer rainfield when at the top of the mountain, it is like walking in fog, we used to drive up and watch as the clouds got closer and closer. right george?

Glad those clouds just made an appearance, but left you to have great day.

Great moody sky there George.
Grand shot.

I see that Sandra already answered Rainfield, but I happen to think that the clouds would carry a person off, and you could be stuck up in the stratosphere until the next downpour. People should avoid contact with brushing clouds.

Seriously though, that's a nice morning photo. I like sleeping too much to catch many morning images.

It is amazing how many different, lovely sights you can see in the early morning hours. My problem just cannot get up that early to enjoy.

Oh what beautiful shots you and Betsy always find. I was in the mountains yesterday and they seemed to me to be at their peak in fall colors.

A fantastic shot of one of my favorite places! I used to live right on Ski Mountain Rd. and didn't even have to get out of bed to see Mount LeConte.

In case I haven't said, thanks for your visits and your comments. :)
