Where the Buffalo Roam

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

We've had several people tell us that Custer State Park in South Dakota is a marvelous place to visit, so we headed that way after leaving Mount Rushmore.  The Wildlife Loop in the park was everything everyone said it would be.  It was there that we saw this herd of buffalo on the prairie.

I've seen a buffalo, but I've never seen a herd of buffalo, in a place like that! Wow!

Oh Wow!
We have Parc Safari African in Quebec, where some animals are free to roam and we can feed them from the car.
One buffalo came and put his head through my car window and fell asleep.
He loved the music in the car.
He was gorgeous stinky and you couldn't budge him. It was like fighting a stone wall. I loved him.

I remember back in 1957 when the buffalo decided to cross the highway in front of us there at the park. We sat in our Ford Fairlane and watch them all go by. It is a neat sight no matter when.

That's a beautiful shot, George. It kind of takes you back to what it must have been like before the West became so settled.

Buffs are cool and seeing them in their natural prairie setting is nice. We have some buffalo out here and also crossed and called beefalo. People will do anything. MB

Lovely, George. I was looking forward to a post from you.

A lovely view. The prairie has a pretty rust color. Cool to see buffalo roaming wild.

That certainly looks like it could have been taken many years ago.

Indeed. It's one of my favorite wildlife venues anyplace. We're off soon to Arizona to be with the Grands. And so Merry Christmas to you and Betsy, George.
Take care...:)
