Grand Canyon

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

I was going through my archives a few days ago and I came across this photo taken during our trip to the Grand Canyon in June, 2011.  This photo was taken near the Bright Angel trailhead on the edge of the Grand Canyon Village.  I was hiking along the Rim Trail instead of going down into the canyon, but I would sure like to go back and hike down into the canyon.

What a beautiful photo you captured here. A friend of ours did that hike down into the canyon a few years ago. It's most difficult, but our friend thought it was worth the effort.

Blue blue sky.

I'm not surprised that you would like to go back and do some more hiking there on a different trail down in the canyon. The views from the Rim are spectacular and I guess the air was good to breath and the weather not too hot at that time in June.

Oh, I hope you and Betsey go back someday. This is a magnificent photo!

Beautiful photo George. My late husband Ben and I went there when we were dating. Was one of the most beautiful sights I had ever seen.

Could that sky be any bluer? I think not! I hope you get back there soon and hike it again.

The reds of the rock is such a gorgeous contrast to the very blue sky.

First of all, hope you had an AWESOME birthday!!!

Second: WOW! WOW! WOW! This is the kind of photo I was after when we went last August. But, our SIL didn't want to go back the next day so we girls could explore more and get some great photos in different light conditions. I know you can't see the Grand Canyon for two hours on a sunny afternoon and say you are done, but that's exactly what he did, and since he works hard and it was his vacation too, we went on to Mogollon the next day (a leg of the trip I am very glad we did!) But, I didn't get my gorgeous pictures (except the one I am using on my header) and that's oen reason I am so glad you posted this! Again--WOW!!!! :-)

Unbelievable. Makes you feel very small and insignificant doesn't it

I watch some hiking on the floor from that very spot five years ago. They looked like ants....:)

It's funny but I looked at the image and the background colors and thought it looked familiar somehow and then I saw Marie's comment and knew why. :)
This is gorgeous George. I hope you get to go back someday and hope I make it there at least once.

Stunning photo of the Grand Canyon. Whenever I go there, I am in awe of nature's incredible beauty. It is almost like a backdrop matte, with everything so layered and textured.

I haven't been there for quite a few years. You had a good location to get such great color of the sky and canyon.
