Soco Falls

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

While the interstate is the fastest way to get between our home and Asheville, North Carolina, there are many advantages to taking the back roads.  One of those back roads allows us to stop and enjoy Soco Falls, near Cherokee, North Carolina.  I got this picture of Soco Falls on a January day a couple of years ago.

I'm a back-roads kind of traveler too, George. Interstate highways are so bland. ;)

on a hot summer day this one would be nice to sit on the rocks at the bottom and get cooled off by the spray

This image proves that fast is not the best way to go.Taking the back roads yields so much more beauty.

Piękny widok, a i pewno szum spadającej wody był przyjemny. Pozdrawiam.
Beautiful view, and even the sound of falling water certainly enjoyable. Yours.

I have always liked to travel the back roads as you see so much more interesting things. We rarely did, as my husband wanted to save time by taking the freeways.

Just the name "Soco" stirs so many memories for me! I remember traveling Soco Road, back before it was anything like it is today. When we were on it in '08, I had to beg hubby to find an alternate route. That road scares the poop out of me! (however, we were only driving and not looking for falls, which would have been a much better reason for being on it)

Beautiful image!

What I wouldn't give to see (and hear) a running waterfall right now in the frozen depths of winter...
It might me about time to plan a vacation!

Bob and I most often travel--even to the store--by the backroads. Best scenery.
Love the falls. MB

Olá George!
As estradas secundárias levam-nos por vezes à descoberta de cenários maravilhosos como o dessas quedas d'águas puras e cristalinas. Gostei de ver!

Back roads really do have the best stuff for us. Hidden there for anyone who wants to get out of their car!
