Rose of the Week: Chicago Peace

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

This is another in the series featuring a rose from our yard.

It seems strange to combine the words ‘Chicago’ and ‘Peace’ given the violence that has taken place on the streets of that city.  But we’ve had the rose ‘Chicago Peace’ in our yard for several years.  It’s a favorite rose of ours, and we love the combination of colors.  We think it’s beautiful.

So I think intensive color means blood and the lighter one peace. Great combination.

It is such a great beauty. My all red peace rose must be named after some person or city or something. Great shot, again.

I was born and raised in Chicago and I could not agree with you more. My first reaction to that name was the same as yours. I live in the suburbs now, and I am amazed at the difference, especially with the drivers. The people driving Chicago's streets are much more aggressive than out here.

The pink and yellow blend is remarkable. May the Lord grant is peace in the city I still love.

That is a great combo for sure. Perhaps some should be planted in the streets of Chicago?

It's exquisite! And maybe if we repeat Chicago Peace often enough, it will work like a prayer!

I was thinking the same thing about Chicago Peace. These days it's an oxymoron. Beautiful rose!

Just wanted to let you know, I do plan to work on that horse photo with PhotoShop when I get it! I didn't do the erasure on the original photo. :-) If it enlarges well, it will look great hanging on my wall. I don't get many really nice photos, and am so happy when I do! :-)
