Morning Rush Hour

The picture above of morning rush hour traffic in Beijing was taken during my trip to China in 1987. At that time the bicycle was the principle means of transportation for ordinary Chinese. The vendors in the background are selling breakfast foods. I guess they are the Chinese version of Macdonalds!

How funny! Imagine what a healthier country we would be if we all rode our bikes everywhere...especially if we rode them PAST the McDonalds.
It was 20 years ago. Beijing must be very much different by now.
Sure looks different than the usual rush hour traffic.Maybe safer?
