From the Archives: Flowers in Our Yard
(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)
Sempervivum (Hens and Chicks) are beautiful succulents which we use in various places around our yard. What we didn't know when we started using them is that the hens bloom just before they die. The blossoms are small, but delicate and pretty. I got this picture back in July.

I love the unique blooms of this plant George. It makes a very interesting photo.
You get me cracking my head to find where are the hens and chicks.
This is a pretty one George, and different.
Beautiful and rare flower.. i liked..
How exciting...love the photo and I love hens and chicks...
Great photo of the "hens and chicks". I don't think we have ever had one... but then I'm not much for identifying the flowers.
These fool me every time you guys post them. I never know what they are. And this pictures looks like some kind of baby Bird Of Paradise plant
you did a great job to get such a goood shot of these tiny flowers. they look so big in the photo. i love hens and chicks and this is beautiful
Once again - - an excellent picture. It's nice to be reminded of flowers in bloom. However I don't miss the heat of summer. I am one of the few who enjoys the colder weather - - - - just don't want snow.
These blooms may be small, but they are very intricate.
Blessings,Ruth
Ahh a glimpse of warmer summer times, seems so long ago now lol. Great shot.
You are lucky that yours flowers. Mine never have!! Nice photo!!
Very nice flowers.
I'll bet many people in the USA who are now experiencing extreme cold weather, are wishing it was July again and their flowers were in bloom.

I like how these flowers stand out against the neutral gray background.
So much to learn about flowers. Are these perennials??
Beautiful! Back in July when we were sweating out those abnormally high temps!
I have had these plants but never knew them to bloom. I do believe anything including a stick would bloom for you. This is so pretty. In fact, I have one now I am growing in a pot, but doubt it ever blooms.
As I look out at the snow outside, all I can say is "keep the flowers coming, George!"
That is an interesting flower!
For a moment there I thought you were growing a PROTEA! Great photo.
