In Honor and Memory

My mother died this morning at my sister's home. She had been in declining health, but apparently had a massive heart attack and died quickly. Betsy and I had seen her (and Dad) on Thursday and I talked with her on the phone Saturday. She sounded very chipper and in good spirits. She had just had some ice cream before I called, which was her favorite snack.

The feature of Mom that most people commented on was her smile. When my parents moved to Tennessee, the children in their new neighborhood called her the "Smile Lady".

Now she's smiling in heaven -- it must be a brighter place today.

I'm so sorry for your loss, George. From what you have said, your mother had a long and happy life and was well-loved by all who knew her. What a wonderful legacy, to be known as the "Smile Lady". Your photo shows her beautiful smile, which makes me smile just to see it. She's surely brightening heaven with it now.

George, so sorry to hear about your mother. What a blessing it was that you had recently saw and talked with her. Lots of times that never happens. She certainly was a very pretty lady. We never like losing our loved ones, but at least she did not have to suffer. I hope I am not a burden or suffer.

She does have a beautiful smile. Praise God for the recent conversations and visit you have had with her. And praise God for her quick passing with minimal suffering. You are fortunate to have had a wonderful relationship with her - - - as I did my mom.

Sorry to read about this. That looks like the kind of smile that lights up a room, as they say. My mom went about the same way quite a few years ago. Truly your loss is heaven's gain.
