From My Archives: Quarry Falls
(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it. Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)
Quarry Falls is more of a cascade than a true waterfall. It is located in the Cullasaja River Gorge near Highlands, North Carolina, and gets its name from an old quarry on the other side of the road. We had this waterfall to ourselves when this picture was taken in December, but there are always many people around on a hot summer day.

Beautiful, really spectacular. I wish you a happy weekend.
That's very pretty!
I can imagine there would be a lot of people cause its so enjoyable to watch
Love that flowing water from small cascades to thundering waterfalls! Good one, George.
I can feel the "quietness" of the fall though there are many people around.
It looks very pretty. I wish the sound of the water could be transferred to the picture. I love the sound of water falls.
I had a hard time leaving the header with those floating mountains to look at the water fall. the header is amazing.
Nice when you can get near to take a shot George, I hate it when its too busy.
That's some really swift moving water! Nice.
It does not look like a waterfall, and now I am wondering about the requirements to be called either a waterfall or a cascade, that might make a good post!
You find the best rivers and streams!
Now you've got me wondering what the difference is between a waterfall and a cascade. :)
I can see why it would be a popular place for photographers and non-photographers alike, especially in the summer.
Yes the header shot is stunning. Beautiful capture of waterfall.
i know how difficult can be a water fall to be captured beautifully.
your shot is absolutely marvelous!
that is wonderfully captured.
