Looking the Wrong Way

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it. Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

I know the sun sets in the west, but sometimes a beautiful sky can be seen by turning your back to the setting sun. This photo was taken last month from the road in front of our house by looking east. I think the pastel colors of the sky and clouds ares very beautiful.

Fascinating! The sun sets are same but the sky expresses a different vista each day.

Beautiful! I never tire of looking up at the sky and have some similar photos taken in Italy which I must post sometime. Looking forward to catching up on your recent trip.

It pays to always check out your surroundings. You turned just the tight time for this nice view. Glad you are back and trust you had a good time.

That is really pretty.
I know what you mean, I've done that before too.

Oh yes, beautiful indeed. It is worth looking east during a sunset, often a lot of beauty is in that direction.

Hi George,

I'd definitely face the sun set to capture the setting sun, never thought of looking the other way, interesting.

Lovely photo George and what you say is very true. I remember a trip to the Grand Canyon and was surprised to see everyone with their backs turned away from the sunset. I could see why. The lower the sun got the more colorful the sky became in the opposite direction.

extremely beautiful.
The sky has meteors right now and I am missing them all with all the clouds these days.

Delicious photo, I love the colors, wonderful clouds. Yes sometimes teaches beautiful sunset clouds in the east.

I know what you mean, George. When we were exploring the area around Red Lodge, Montana and saw a sunset in the making, it was the view to the east that put on the best show. I'm glad you looked the wrong way on this one. :)

Sunsets reflecting in the East are so neat to see. Alpine glow. MB

I agree...there is nothing 'wrong' with that sight! :)

Some of my favorite sunset shots have also been taken when I was facing more east than west. Nice one here.

Finally now that the summer haze is over, there are good sunrises and sunsets. I'll try your trick at the next opportunity to see if I can get lovely shots like this.

I once had a garden photographer to tell me to always look over my should--the best shot can be found by looking back.
