Icy Tree on the Mountain

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

This photo, taken from my archives, was taken on Mt. Nebo, in Arkansas in March, 2009.  There had been an ice storm during the night which left the the top of the mountain coated with ice.  I came upon this ice-encrusted tree when walking along the Rim Trail later in the day.

must be quite dramatic seeing ice on the branches like this.

Almost looks odd to see ice on that bare tree and the evergreen next to it.

I like the ice-encrusted tree in the foreground with the contrasting blue of the mountains in the background and the story of how you saw and captured it whilst walking the Rim Trail.

I do not like situations like this, but it does make a truly awesome sight. A gorgeous shot.

It is a perfect shot. I hope you are warming up down there and spring overwhelms you. I am wishing for that too in Iowa.

I love to see Jack Frost on trees especially in the morning sunlight when the ice melts.

Strikingly beautiful. We used to have ice storms when I was a child and lived in Portland Oregon. We called it Silver Thaw and everything was encased in ice.

Love the details. We have a Mt. Nebo close where I live in Utah.

Wonderful.
I have noticed that when you walk you tend to notice more things to be captured by the camera.
