Icy Bridal Veil Falls
(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)
Bridal Veil Falls is a popular waterfall near Highlands, North Carolina. Under ordinary circumstances it's possible to drive behind the waterfall, but when Betsy and I were there in December the road was blocked because of all the ice around and under the falls.

Driving behind the waterfall?
Or you can have a natural car washing machine!!
Wow. That is such an amazing sight! I would love to see a frozen waterfall in person. Or even a frozen fountain, for that matter.
Trully amazing sight!
That would be really cool to walk or drive behind it! Super photo!
I enlarged your falls and WOW, it was like being there with you and Betsy...awesome shot
God Bless You Both
Beautiful capture George. Those ice daggers look dangerous though. :)
Beautiful falls but that ice looks a little treacherous!
Sunny :)
Beautiful and intriguing ... quite different from the Bridalveil Falls in Yosemite Valley that I've visited multiple times ;-)
Hugs and blessings,

Interesting that you posted this particular picture today, because Phil didn't believe me that a waterfall could freeze. How can moving water freeze? So I showed him your header today, then saw you just posted this new picture. He wondered what happened to the river behind if a fall freezes. It does look like they are only partially frozen, but does one ever completly freeze?
beautiful picture.
Isnt winter grand?
Beautiful, but definitely better not to drive there,at least not when it's icy.
Blessings,Ruth
I like your header photo. It must have been so cold to have the water frozen like that.
When I was at university in Canada, my flat mate hand washed his jeans, and hung them out on the line at the balcony. The next day, he had icicles a foot long. We, from Borneo, lol, and then he said, my jeans are dried.
That was before dry freezing, and when I see freezed dried coffee, I remember him.
Came Via Sylvia's site.
Ice and NC. I don't usually put these two together. But there is the photo! Wow.
Could almost be Canada! Crazy weather!
I've been here. :)
I've always wanted to go to waterfall country in the winter. This definitely makes me realize I still want to.
That is simply amazing. I bet its fun to take a drive behind it. Now you'd have to skate!
Hey George that looks like ice we had last year falling off our roof, since we put out the porch things changed, lol. Amazing photo. I can see how dangerous it can be. Anna :)
