The Smokies in the Spring

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

In May, 2009, Betsy and I traveled from Cherokee, North Carolina, to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, on Newfound Gap road. Along the way we stopped at an overlook, where I got this picture. According to the weather reporters these mountains are now covered in snow. I much prefer the Spring colors.

Breath taking I can just imagine the cherokees living in there.
Amazing how life has changed.
I think to spend a week end in a teepee by a river would just be the greatest experience.

Yes George, all 7 of the dwarfs are there "holding" up the building. It's really cute. It's a Disney Studios building in Burbank, CA.

Spring. I am thinking of the work nature does to get there. I appreciate this all the more as I take it in from underneath 28 inches of new snow.

The mountains are beautiful in all the shades of green and blue. I'll bet it's pretty in its winter coat, too, but driving on snowy roads would not be fun.
Hope you have a great weekend and get a break from shoveling snow for awhile!

They are beautiful ~ and I'm sure they are also very beautiful covered with snow ... but ... given a choice to see them (possibly soon) I hope the snow is gone. I've seen enough snow up here to last a life time.

This photo is very good! Its composition and the many different hues of green and blue! Very beautiful if enlarged.
Thank you for your visit and comment on the flood in Queensland. Now it is Brazil we have to pray for. The situation over there is very bad.

I hope I make to the Smokies this spring/summer; but I'd love to see the mountains covered in snow. Not sure I'd like driving those curves though. :)
Beautiful spring shot George!

It's good to think about spring as we sit here where we have had snow on the ground for what seems like Weeks. We went from Gatlinburg to Cherokee a couple summers ago, then up through the Blue Ridge and Skyline Drive. Gorgeous.

I've got to go back and revisit this beautiful country. We camped at Smokey Mountain N.P. many years ago. I got sick and missed the "synchronous firefly" display which according to all reports was absolutely spectacular.

Hi George, I guess from your stay in China, you know that when a disciple wants to respectively request his master/tutor to become his disciple, he needs to present his work. Only when the master deems the work are up to standard, then he will take him as the student.

I feel like I am your wanna be student. I had the perfect opportunity to take the photo, but the technique just wasn't good enough.

Should I go at mid day? so i don't get reflections? I took this photo about 3.30pm summer time.
