Shrimp Boats A-Comin'
(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it. Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)
Betsy and I go to the beach at Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, each year. If the truth be known, we go for the seafood as much as for the sun and sand. We can see shrimp boats like this working off shore opposite our room, and then drive to Calabash, where many of these shrimp boats are docked, for a delicious seafood dinner.

I love the beach and good seafood! I haven't been to the beach in forever and I have one only 50 miles away. How sad is that.
The trip and the sea food sure sound good George. I like shrimp boats, I find them interesting and photogenic. I suppose the attraction is because they are extremely rare in northern New York State.

this is a familiar sight from Savannah, lots of shrimp boats there that look just like this one
I wish I liked seafood. But I dearly love the beach and the water!!
i so like seafood, and the beach and ships like that.
gorgeous shot btw!
Enjoy the sun and the seafood.
Great capture!
This is a beautiful picture, I also love the two shades of blue. I would not be able to tell a shrimp boat from any other kind of fishing boat!
Seems that alls at sea for seafood George.
This is the life eh George?
I love the sea and sure would love to live on a boat.
I have seen lobster boats but never have I ever seen shrimp boats. You are making me hungry for shrimp.
Jest morze, które uwielbiam, to i zdjęcie mi się bardzo podoba :-). Pozdrawiam.*** It is the sea which I love, then the picture I really like it :-). Yours.
A delicious seafood dinner sound good to me!!
I could never take my wife on such trips, George. I have no sense of direction. That is especially bad when combined with my refusal to ask for help. It works out okay though, because my wife doesn't like seafood.
Happy belated Valentines Day to you and Betsy.
ohhh yum, some great, very fresh seafood!
Sun, sand, shrimp, and sea food.
They are belonged to the S.
Hi George, Life is short, enjoy to the fullest. So nice, beach, sea food, sunbathing... can I join the crowd? LOL
Have a nice day and enjoy.
I once saw three prawn trawlers (OZ version of shrimp boat) crossing the bar in high seas off the east coast of Australia. After that, I'll never complain about the high price of seafood again!!
Hope you enjoyed the beach and the seafood !! (o:
Eating seafoods on the beach is a must and shrimp are my favorite too.
sounds delicious. hope you enjoyed your seafood dinner.
I'm probably one of very few of your readers that does not like sea food. I will have an occassional piece of salmon or flounder but not often.
Love the photo!
I love shrimp and good wine, good photo. Greetings.
That's interesting knowing about this place... I'm also a fan of seafood. Hope u had some delicious stuff.
I wanted to do a post on shrimps after waiting that movie about shrimp boats. Have so many stories I wanted to share.
How refreshing George.. you get to watch your fresh seafood supper coming ashore.
~:)
My husband is descended from Va Eastern Shore and Mathews Co oystermen. He and I always wanted to buy a deadrise (particularly if we could document that it had been made by his great-grandfather who made many of them in his back yard when he was alive) and use it as a pleasure boat. A dream that had to go by the wayside....oh well. :-)
Shrimp boats always make me think of Forest Gump and Bubba Gump shrimp!
Lovely photo. I hope they're hauling in a good catch.
