Evening in the Mountains

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

I lived in the mountains of western North Carolina for thirteen years and I still enjoy going back there whenever possible. The mountains are beautiful and their 'mood' seems to change from day to day or even from hour to hour. Some evenings the valley below was clearly seen. On this evening the clouds were rolling in.

You mean they are like us, so moody?

Amazing when we seem higher than the clouds.

That really is tranquil looking. It almost looks like it could be somewhere in the jungles of Central America or some Asian country!!

I love that low lying cloud nestled down in the mountains, and the tinge of pink in the sky! Yes, in the mountains, the weather can change on a dime!

Wow, that's a gorgeous scene. I love the clouds on the mountain and the pastel color in the sky.

So very beautiful, George. Thank you. I don't know this part of NC because I am so in love with the beaches there. You convince me I need to expand my horizons.

Great photos. My wife and I visited N.Carolina 25 years back, and stayed in Boone. The Smokeys are something special and I found the people there exactly like folks at home. I wish the photos I had taken then were a fraction as good!
