National Rose Month: Sonia

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

We've had showers off and on over the past week. Sonia is one of the roses we grow in a container along the driveway. I got this picture of Sonia early in the morning after an overnight shower.

Sonia is one of my all time favorite roses. Too bad we can't enjoy the fragrance.
Do you have Moonstone by any chance?

Good morning George. What a love bloom.

I experimented with growing a container rose a few years ago. I picked up a small Austin, Eglantyne and put it in a 15 gallon pot with a clematis. It was a show stopper when the clematis and rose both bloomed at the same time. Predictably I got tired of watering the combination twice a day and unpotted them:)

My officemate will be tickled pink to find out that there's a rose with her name! And such a unique color too.
