Alex Cole Cabin
(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)
The Alex Cole Cabin is located in the Jim Bales Place along the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail behind Gatlinburg, Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The cabin was moved to this location after the park service gained control of the land in the 1930s. It is more representative of the pioneer days of Appalachia than the frame home of the Bales family, which was torn down.

great old cabin wonderfully captured.
It looks like an ordinary cabin that can be found over here.
Awe, Tennessee. So rich in history and great little cabins!

i love old cabins, but have often wondered how they lived in a HOUSE that is the size of my spare bedroom.
What a simple life that would be!!!!
I do enjoying seeing and learning about any old building. If this one could talk, what a tale it could share.
Great old photo. Imagine living in there!!
I am a fan of old relics like that. They're rich with stories.
My house may not be very big,but it sure beats living in a small place like that.
i love old cabins. You captured this one beautifully!
love the colours...they add to the picture.
have a great day!

I clicked on this to get an even better look. Gosh, no windows!!! Surely people didn't live here? There would be room for a bed, table, chair, where would you put things?

I love the old buildings like this! Cheers from Ontario.
I suppose it is not as big as your lounge.
Brave pioneers esp the women.
In the Asian butchery in Auckland, you can get anything. including cow's egg.
I am always inspired by such cabins.
I imagine people living in them in winter. Whole families sitting in close quarters enjoying each others company with a crackling fire and porridge always ready on the hearth.
The sounds and smells of the forest around them. What a great life!!!
Very nice cabin in a beautiful place.
Lovely cabin in the woods -- amazing that places like this held whole families.
I love it!
