The Imperial Vault of Heaven is one of the major buildings in The Temple of Heaven near Beijing, China. The vault was built to contain memorial tablets of the ancestors of the emperor. According the ancient Chinese religious belief, heaven is round, and so the major buildings in the Temple of Heaven are also round.

How interesting that an ancient Chinese religion believed Heaven is round! That certainly helps to explain the conical design of this vault.

I love round buildings!!! The devil can't get you cornered!! This has such a simple beauty!
Now I know why their temples are round. China is one of the places I wish to visit someday.
