Arkansas River Valley

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it. Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

Betsy and I visit Mount Nebo in Arkansas every year, usually in the late winter or early spring. We visit at that time because waterfalls usually have a pretty good flow, and we practically have the mountaintop to ourselves. This picture was taken in February, 2010, and shows the Arkansas River in the valley below. There weren't any colorful leaves on the trees, but the sky was a gorgeous blue.

You won't be able to see nearly as much of that landscape when those trees are full.

I, too, love the color of the sky in the spring - - - seems washed clear with some of the most brilliant blue. After the pollen starts, it tends to haze the atmosphere a bit.

Lovely view, George. I guess I ought to be out looking for waterfalls soon too. Thanks for the reminder!

It's a magnificent scene!

I'm actually glad the trees are bare, or they'd have hidden the patterns of the land.

I bet the air is fresh and crisp that time of year at that elevation, too. What a lovely retreat, and such a beautiful way to clear the mind, and breathe deep!
