From the Archives: Flowers in Our Yard

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

Betsy and I built a new flowerbed in 2009, and since it gets good sunshine, we've planted roses, lilies and daylilies in it. Last year we were pleased with this daylily, South Sea, which gave us many beautiful blossoms, even if each one did last only for a single day.

You know from reading my posts that I am a sucker for day lilies. South Seas is a beauty! You put me to shame, George, by knowing the name of each of your flowering plants. I have dozens of different day lilies and remember the names of only a few. That's what I get for not putting permanent markers by the plantings.

Your daylily is very beautiful. Daylilies and roses are such great companions, your bed must look lovely in spring. I hope you will post more pictures of it.

This one is pretty, and it actually does make me think of somewhere in the South Pacific.

And that's the ONLY sad thing about day lilies -- that they last only that one day. But they sure are beautiful!

The heavy snow and extreme cold have me wishing for spring and that's a first for me. I used to love winter but I guess my age is now interfering with my fun spirit?? This picture had my smiling. Thanks for some beauty.
