Drawing from a Photo: Azaleas and Dogwood at Biltmore

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

I never had much artistic ability, although I have always admired people who could play a musical instrument or create beautiful art. So I became very intrigued when I learned how to create a line drawing from a photograph.

The azaleas and dogwood at Biltmore Estate were absolutely gorgeous when we visited on April 14. I thought the scene above would make a pretty good drawing. What do you think?

Betsy and I enjoyed our last blogging break so much that we are taking another. Hopefully we'll be back about May 9.

Oh my all the beautiful flowers are blooming already. Here only the daylilies and some other small flowers I've seen blooming but looking forward to see more. Great shot!

Both images are beautiful, George. I like the bright color in the first, and the more subtle pastel in the "drawing" creation.
Hope you and Betsy have a great trip!

You have fun playing with that drawing program. It's neat you have the knowledge and time to work with it. Productive hobbies are fun hobbies. That drawing could make a beautiful watermark on stationery, too.

I love the first picture. The second would be hard to draw because of all the small flowers.

Enjoy your time away, Sir.

I hope that, just for the fun of it, you pick up a pencil and try a doodle now and then. It's incredible, isn't it... how some people find it so easy to transform the world around them to an aesthetic 2-dimensional representation?

Wow! you have drawn it beautifully.

I hope that you and Betsy are well, I heard the news that the Mississippi floods, flooding many homes!
