The Interior of the Hall of Prayer
(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)
Yesterday's post showed the exterior of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. This picture, although not very good, shows a part of the interior.
There are 28 columns inside the hall, each made from a single tree trunk. The interior of the hall is unbelievably beautiful.
The picture above was scanned from a slide.

Wow! How beautiful!
Very colorful--are those columns covered in fabric or painted?
at first glance before i read your post, i thought it was rolled rugs standing on end. after i read your post went back to see they are colums. i know it took a lot of work to paint these
The intricate designs amaze me!
Just beautiful!
It is art.
With all that intricate beauty around,I would find it hard to concentrate on prayer.
Blessings,Ruth
Exquisite! What a wonderful place to pray.
This is georgous, and how interesting about the tree columns! So I'm thinking you walked around inside there and they don't mind cameras.
Columns out of trees. :) I have to smile at that. My brother just included some staircase columns in a cabin from cedar trees.
I have to wonder with Jen if they are painted or cloth.
What intricate work however it was done.
Isn't this gorgeous !
Such painstakingly beautiful work, it's a feast for the eyes.
Most beautiful artwok I have seen in a shrine room.
Sumptuous, to say the least, George. Every inch is a universe full of beauty.
The art, columns, and color are all beautiful! Must've been a great experience to visit.
Oh wow, such intricate, magnificent designs! Are they carved or painted? Absolutely fascinating!
