Ruins of the Great Wall
(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)
When I was back in China in 1990, I saw a section of the Great Wall that was in ruins. In many ways the ruins were as impressive as the restored sections of the wall.
The picture above was scanned from a slide and then converted to sepia.

Amazing photo George. Thanks for sharing.
An interesting blog, George! Senior moments is also such a great way to see your part of the country. I've enjoyed both your blogs. regards, Allison
Amazing!
Well, the photo certainly makes it look impressive! :)
The ruins still tell us stories.
as always welcome photos from the world traveler.
Great photo George. I'll bet the workers and the government leaders at that time would be amazed to see how China has changed in the 21st century.
You know George I visited the section of the Great Wall where there is a monument to Mao, I have done all the way to the tower we have also given a diploma at the end of journey
Wow. You were there. Have the floods affected that area?
So do they ever repair any of it when it falls apart, or just close that part off to tourists?
Lawson!
Happy weekend.
Regards.
Thanks for clarifying my perspective. Beautiful shot.
Awesome view of the ruins of Great Wall of China
Even in ruins the task of building something of such stature reminds one of its impressiveness.
That IS impressive! I was not aware that any of the wall was in ruins!
Precious!
Thanks so much for sharing.
Hope to visit it in this life time. :)
Very impressive, indeed. That was some bit of construction work back in the day!
