Peaks of Otter
(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)
We spent Betsy's birthday traveling along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia on our way to the Lodge at Peaks of Otter. This picture was taken on Sharp Top, one of the peaks, the next morning. The lodge is beside the lake in the lower right of the picture and the Blue Ridge Parkway can also be seen. The day was hazy, but the view from the top of the mountain was still pretty spectacular.

You must have celebrated Betsy's birthday in a very special way, and at a very highland.
Lovely..just like a postcard!
i just love seeing that tiny little lake nestled doen inside the mountains. For some crazy reason, it reminds me of Dr. Seuss Whoville. Maybe I need some coffee!
What a lovely view and a spectacular way to celebrate Betsy's birthday!

Spectacular indeed!

But the question remains: Who/what is Otter and why does he/she have so many peaks? MB

Lovely. We haven't travelled to that area since 1997. Maybe we should take a trip this autumn when the colour appear?
Great Photos! It looks like an aerial photo.
Haze or no haze, your photos turn out great. You have a good camera, great subject, and how to get great results.
I love the Blue Ridge as well and hope to return sometime in the spring so I can see those azaleas in bloom.
