Colors on Monday: Brown
(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)
Jen at Unglazed is hosting a mini meme, Colors on Monday. This week's color is Brown.
I had to do some searching to find pictures with brown in them. It doesn't seem to be a prominent color in our lives. But there is some brown in the firewood that was delivered last week and which I need to stack.
If you use your imagination you can see some brown in the bridge and dam at Cumberland Mountain State Park near Crossville. This picture was taken last March, so some of the bare tree branches are brown as well.
The best brown I could find were these cattails which I photographed along the shore of Abbott Lake at the Peaks of Otter Lodge in Virginia. We celebrated Betsy's birthday there this past August.

Cattails!!! haven't seen any in a long time!!! Great browns George!!!
What great selections for Brown Monday George! The reflection in that 2nd photo is so nice and like the commenter above, I haven't seen cattails in a long time. I think you should wait til we actually get some Autumn temps before you stack the firewood.
Happy Brown Monday George! Take it easy stacking all that wood.
Nice Browns, George! Looks like Betsy would help you stack that wood;) I like the picture of the cattails!
Nice brown pictures. I like those cattails. I have just one in my pond, and I smile every time I pass it.
Boy, that wood will keep you busy for a while, huh?
Have a good Monday.
Great job George.
I love the bridge and the cattails...but the wood? That looks like a LOT of work!
Wow, you have celebrated Betsy's birthday with so many "sausages".
George..
Love the cattails!!
splitting and stacking wood..not for me..did enough of that in a former life..
enjoy your day!!
hugs..
Loui♥
All great photos, but I do love cat tails!
I really dislike brown!! But you got two georgous pictures that are so pretty, so maybe it's not the color of things at all that matters.
That bridge image is fabulous!
I see you haven't stacked that wood yet!! :-)
Love the cattails.
I love cat tails and can't believe they are soo good at absorbing oil.
I wonder if they used them in the olden days to keep light in the house?
My Dad had a Franklin stove and we would buy wood like this and I liked to stack it up for winter.
At night he would light the franklin and we would hear the wood crackling and depending on the wood, the smell would be so nice.
Nothing like it.
love the bridge and i see the brown. love, love the cat tails.
Your cattail photo is exceptional. Better get to work stacking that wood George! Patrick stacked our when he was home last. Glad he did, as I had a fire all day yesterday.:<) Happy BrownMonday.
The wood fits perfectly but the cattail shot is wonderful!!
Brown the best... I liked the last photograph very much... most likely :)
Looks like you have a job ahead of you, George!
I really like the reflection in the bridge shot!
Great reflections on that bridge George.
Also love the reeds.
Always enjoy your pictures - In this post I loved the bridge reflections and the cattails best Great job.
With your gallery of photos, you should never have any trouble finding what you need. You did very well for today.
I totally forgot to put cat tails on my post today!
Great photos George - I especially like the reflections from that great bridge.
My submission to Jen's mini meme is on my Centre of Interest photoblog - fuzzy wuzzy caterpillars.
Great photos of brown today. Love the cattails!
Happy Monday George!
You did a great job of gathering Brown; not get busy and start stacking it. Ha!
Great picture of cattails! Stacking firewood looks like too much work. Do you have a helper?
Brown certainly doesn't look dull in these photos. :-)
I really like the bridge picture. The symmetry of the reflection is especially appealing to me on that one. Nice pictures (and nice locations!)
Great brown pictures. I just love looking at cat tails - - - - and not just the felines we own but the plants in your picture.
Buddy and I love the bullrush shot. We had no idea there were themes yet we posted a colours one. It seems a natural thing for fall.
Lovely, warm shades of brown!
