Golden Sunrise

Betsy and I have visited Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, in early December for several years now.  We enjoy the peace and tranquility of the the beach at that time of year.  An added bonus is that the sunrises can be spectacular with a light that has to be seen to be fully appreciated.  I got this photo from our room early one morning six years ago.

Little River in the Smokies

Betsy and I often go to Great Smokey Mountain Park in the winter, because there are usually fewer people and it’s easier to get close to nature than it would be during peak tourist seasons.  One December day a few years ago we stopped along Little River, where I got th photo that was the basis for this watercolor.  Th Smokies are beautiful any time of the year.
