A March Hike

(Note:  This picture may be enlarged by clicking on it using Control-click or right-click.)

Several years ago, when both Betsy and I were younger and could still do some hiking, we celebrated my birthday by visiting Desoto State Park near Fort Payne, Alabama.  While there we took several hikes, one of which was along the west fork of Little River.  It was on that hike that I captured this image of the March scenery along the river.

Desoto State Park

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

Betsy and I have visited Desoto State Park in Alabama several times.  It offers beautiful waterfalls and good hiking.  Just above the brink of Desoto Falls is a dam which forms Desoto State Park Lake.  This dam can also present a beautiful photo opportunity, as can be seen by the photo above.

Little River Falls

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

Betsy 'kidnapped' me last Friday and we headed to Fort Payne, Alabama.  Before we checked into our hotel we visited Little River Canyon National Preserve a few miles outside the town.

We first stopped at Little River Falls.  We had been there a few years ago, but this time we found a good water flow and a new boardwalk and observation platform.  I got this photo from the new observation deck.

We've visited Little River Falls near Fort Payne, Alabama, several times.  This picture was taken in February, 2010, when we practically had the waterfall to ourselves.

One of the places Betsy and I enjoy visiting is Little River Canyon National Preserve near Fort Payne, Alabama. There are many lookouts with beautiful views, but one stop we especially enjoy is at Little River Falls near the head of the canyon. This picture of the falls was taken in February, 2010.

Betsy at Little River Falls

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

I took this picture of Betsy at Little River Falls near Fort Payne, Alabama, on Valentine's Day. We've visited this waterfall before and always enjoy seeing it. This is one of the first pictures of Betsy that I've taken with my new camera, a Canon EOS Rebel T1i. Somehow I doubt that this will be the last.
