Someone Really Enjoys Snow

Someone (who shall remain nameless) was disappointed that we got very little snow from the storm that came through here last weekend..  We got plenty of wind and cold temperatures, but very little snow.  I had to go back into my archives to get a picture of that happy someone celebrating snow.  I really don’t like snow, but she’s so cute that I couldn’t resist getting a picture.

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

A Snowy Scene

We don’t often get much snow here in the Glade, but when we do get snow the result can be a beautiful landscape.  I got this picture from the front of our house several years ago.

 

 

 

Mt. Nebo Waterfall

Although we didn’t make it to Mt. Nebo this year, it has been an annual event for us for almost as long as My Beautiful Bride and I have been married.  (She’s the one who introduced me to this beautiful place.)

Although we go in late February or early March, we’ve rarely had snow while we were there.  This photo, taken in March a few years ago, was taken during a light snowfall.  The area around Upper Mt. Nebo Falls was turned into a winter wonderland.

Someone who shall remain nameless says we never get enough snow here in the Glade.  I agree that we don’t get much, but what we do get snow it can be absolutely beautiful.  I got this photo of a snow-covered fairway under a brilliant blue sky from behind our house.  This photo was taken February 13, 2014.

Beautiful Sky, Beautiful Snow

A snowstorm usually means gray, overcast skies.  But the day after a snowstorm can be sunny and bright.  We got five inches of snow last Wednesday (February 12), but the next morning featured a bright blue sky and sunshine.  That made the snow clinging to the trees and on the ground look even more beautiful.

Winter Wonderland

Betsy finally got her perfect snow last Tuesday.  Big, fluffy flakes came down during the day and clung to the trees and bushes.  I'm not a big fan of snow, but even I had to admit that for a few hours our yard was transformed into a winter wonderland.

I took this picture yesterday (Monday) morning, looking out onto the fairway behind our house.  In addition to snow, as an added bonus, Betsy got some cold temperatures.  It was six degrees when we got up, and the temperature dropped all day.

Cool Thoughts

It's been so hot here on the Plateau this week, that I needed to find some cool comfort. I thought looking at this picture from a couple of years ago might help, but relief doesn't last very long.

Betsy at Cedar Breaks

One of the things Betsy is passionate about is snow. Each winter she thinks we never get enough. On June 20 we went to Cedar Breaks National Monument in Utah. The monument had opened for the season three days before, and Betsy found these snow banks near the Visitor Center. Can you tell how happy she is?

We visited Cedar Breaks National Monument near Cedar City, Utah, on an incredibly beautiful day in June. The roads had been opened for the season three days before we visited, and there was still plenty of snow around. This picture shows the snow at one side of the Visitor Center, as well as the beautiful blue sky we enjoyed that day.

I imagine that many of you are sick and tired of seeing snow pictures, but I couldn't resist posting this picture. I like the soft curves in the snow bank along a roadside ditch just below our house. God is a marvelous artist.

More Snow

Betsy was an associate minister when I met her and I've always suspected that she had "connections". She likes snow and has commented several times about our lack of snow here on the Plateau. But look what we came back to Monday afternoon. I don't think it does her much good to try and hide her connections with a scene like this!

Trees After the Storm

This picture was taken Saturday after most of the storm had passed. It shows some of the trees from the vacant lot below our house with their branches weighed down by the snow and ice. The day was dull and gray, but the trees were something for us southerners to behold.

We had a light snowfall earlier this month. It wasn't nearly enough to make Betsy happy, but it was enough for me to get this picture.
