Pink Dogwood Blossoms

(Note:  This picture may be enlarged by clicking on it using Control-click or right-click.)

We know that Spring has arrived in the Glade when the pink dogwood tree in our front yard blooms.  My Beautiful Bride and I have been celebrating Spring’s arrival for the past week or so.  This picture was taken a couple of years ago, but the blossoms were just as beautiful this year.

A Rose About Betsy

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

I like it when the roses — and other flowers in our yard — have some connection with Betsy.  This pretty rose is called Something Special, when does a great job of describing my Beautiful Bride.

Deck the Halls

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)

My Beautiful Bride does a wonderful job of decorating the house for Christmas.  (She does let me help a little if I promise not to mess things up).  This picture, from 2010, shows what the house looks like when the lights are on from the road out front.

Memorial Day

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

As you enjoy this Memorial Day holiday, I hope you'll take a moment to remember the men and women whose sacrifice made it possible for us to celebrate this day.

Keeping Warm in Winter

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

My Bride likes a fire in the fireplace in winter, and I must admit that a fire helps keep the house warm. This truckload of wood was dumped in our yard in September, and I got warm stacking it. I can also keep warm by splitting some of the larger pieces.

This is actually the wood we'll use next year. We try to stay a year ahead so the wood will dry completely and burn well.

Santa Paid Us A Visit

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

I took this picture on Christmas morning for several reasons. First of all you can see the Betsy and I were good enough for Santa to pay us a visit. Secondly, you can see some of the ornaments we've collected since we've been married. And finally, if you look through the window, you can see that we actually had a White Christmas here in Tennessee.

It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

'The weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful'.

We often have a fire in the fireplace on cold evenings, but it seems doubly warm and colorful during the Christmas season. Our tree goes very nicely with a roaring fireplace. This picture was taken this past Sunday evening.

Trying to Stay Cool

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

It's been unusually hot here on the Plateau for the past couple of weeks. I was hoping a winter picture of our house would make me feel cooler, but I'm not sure it's working.

Morning in the Glade

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

Early morning -- before the golfers get out -- is a tranquil, peaceful time on the golf courses here in Fairfield Glade. This picture was taken on the 14th hole of the Druid Hills course.

Merry Christmas To All

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

The picture above was taken about a week ago from our back yard, looking at our Christmas tree through the door leading out to the deck.

Betsy and I will be taking a long weekend from blogging to have time to celebrate Christmas with family and friends. We'll be back Monday, but in the meantime we want to wish you and your family a very merry and blessed Christmas.
