Fort Erie Cannon

This cannon is part of the armament of the British Fort Erie in Ontario, Canada. The job of Fort Erie was to protect Canada from invasion by the United States. Buffalo, New York, can be seen across the river.

A waterfall doesn't have to be huge or well-known in order to be attractive. We came upon this beauty just across the state line in North Carolina.

Celebrating Dad's Birthday

Today is my father's birthday. We went to Hendersonville yesterday to help them out, and while we were there Yvonne, a member of Mom and Dad's Sunday School class, came over with a homemade birthday cake (and hat) for Dad. In this picture Mom and Dad are seated and Yvonne is standing behind Dad.

Incidentally the picture over Yvonne's head and the one to right of her are pictures of Betsy and me in our younger days!

Midas Touch Rose

Midas Touch is a rose that we added to our garden last year. The flowers, as you can see, are particular bright yellow and fairly large. The rose also has a very nice fragrance.

Since I showed a picture of the American Falls yesterday, I thought I would show the Canadian (Horseshoe) Falls today. This picture was also taken from the Skylon Tower, Niagara Falls, Ontario, in 2002.

Fort Erie Firing Demonstration

While Betsy and I were visiting Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada, in 2002, the 'redcoats' gave a firing demonstration of their circa 1814 muskets. The collage above shows the highlights of that demonstration.
