Admiring the Great Wall
(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)
I shared a version of this picture on my blog, but I couldn't resist posting it here as well. I took this picture of the young Chinese family on the Great Wall in 1990. They seemed as impressed with Wall as I was.
In my thinking this is one of the most amazing achievements ever...but the sacrifices that were made by so many were also great. I can see why anyone seeing this wall would just stop and stare....and sip!
I'm a happily married retiree living on the Cumberland Plateau of Tennessee. I taught for 31 years and worked as a systems analyst for 9 years before retiring.

I'm not at all surprised that they are surprised. ;-) The wall is a remarkable achievement.

They're a lovely family.
What a nice portrait of a handsome family. I'm glad they were getting out to learn about and see the vast beauty of their own country.
George, You have great memories from China. The couple is looking very happy. A very nice photo.
What a lovely family picture. I would love to see the Great Wall in person but chances of that are slim to none!
Sunny :)
