Niagara Falls
(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)
A visit to Niagara Falls offers many interesting perspectives for photographs. The ground-level photo above captures both waterfalls. The American Falls is in the foreground while the Canadian (Horseshoe) Falls is in the background.
Great Photo, I usually do not see pics from the American side so it is nice to see one from their perspective. I live not far from the Falls so I had to take a look and see. For some reason I never tire of looking at picks from here. I live on the Canadian side.I am planing to go down there on the 5th of May again to take some pics
"In 1848, Niagara Falls was silenced for the first and only time in recorded history when strong winds created an ice dam at the mouth of Lake Erie, thus stopping the flow of water through the falls. Normal water flow resumed a day later".
The depth and dimension of your photo is striking. I've been on both sides of the falls and never tire of experiencing them. The sheer and brutal power and yet the beauty amaze me.
I saw the falls once in my life, at age 8 and have never forgotten the sound of all that water falling and the mist wetting us. i remember it because it scared me silly.
Craver Vii, The thunder of the Falls is really disappointing actually as the water over the top has been reduced drastically over the years. Worse even more will be removed from the top in the near future. We who live here can only think what it should be like if the Falls were to be allowed to flow normally. To give an idea of how bad it is the River would raise 10 feet if the Falls where allowed to take all the water. The noise of the Thunder it is said would be heard for 50 KM. That would be amazing. Right now the water just drops of the edge, it does not shot over as it did 100 years ago.

Wow! Two falls, and so artfully photographed! i love the mist in the background and the way the light shows it up
Oh I knew it looked so familiar lol
I still forget why the falls are said to run uphill as opposed to down hill. Do you know George?
George: Cool photo at the falls, I hope to see it this year.
Thanks for memories of a trip I went in 1976 during my summer holidays from Canada.
Your photo is so beautiful.
I like how you captured both falls, George!
Great shot with both falls. It's been many years since I was there!
