Piney Creek Falls

Piney Creek Falls is one of five major waterfalls in Fall Creek Falls State Park here in Tennessee. It's hard to get a clear view of this waterfall, but with that 'V' notch at the top it is probably the most unique waterfall in the park.

Betsy and I are leaving for Mount Nebo in Arkansas early Sunday morning. I'll try to visit as much as I can, but I won't be making any new posts until we get back.

Road Through the Mountains

In December Betsy and I traveled along the interstate from Erwin, Tennessee to Asheville, North Carolina. I got the picture above at an overlook just inside North Carolina. The completion of this stretch of interstate was considered a major achievement, but I think it looks somewhat insignificant beneath that big blue sky and those magnificent mountains.

Mountain Laurel

I feel the need to see some color other than white around the house. It will be a few months before this mountain laurel blooms along our deck, but I am looking forward to seeing it again.

Little River Falls

Yesterday I posted a picture of Betsy at Little River Falls. The picture above is the waterfall itself, which is located in Little River Canyon Natural Preserve near Fort Payne, Alabama. This picture was taken taken in RAW format with my new camera at 1/125s, f/7.1.

I took this picture of Betsy at Little River Falls near Fort Payne, Alabama, on Valentine's Day. We've visited this waterfall before and always enjoy seeing it. This is one of the first pictures of Betsy that I've taken with my new camera, a Canon EOS Rebel T1i. Somehow I doubt that this will be the last.

More Snow

Betsy was an associate minister when I met her and I've always suspected that she had "connections". She likes snow and has commented several times about our lack of snow here on the Plateau. But look what we came back to Monday afternoon. I don't think it does her much good to try and hide her connections with a scene like this!

A Winter Portrait of Our House

I had to go back to the last day of January to get a picture of blue skies here in the Glade, but our house looks so good in this wintry setting that I just couldn't resist sharing it with you.

We're supposed to get some snow Friday night and more on Sunday night. I'm hoping to whisk Betsy away for a Mystery Trip between storms to celebrate Valentine Day. I'm also hoping that we can get back home without any problems. I can't tell you where we are going since Betsy reads this, but the chances that the trip includes waterfalls are pretty good! We hope to be back sometime Monday evening.
