A Colorful Creek Bed

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

Betsy and I visited Crooked Creek in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas on our way to Mount Nebo last week. The water was crystal clear and we could easily see the colorful creek bed. Much of the rock in the area is slate, but I can't account for the red color of a large part of the creek bed. It is certainly colorful, however.

That is very interesting. Maybe the rock was embarrassed to be photographed, though! Moving water--a new thing for me!

A very unusual picture! I wonder if that is the color of the rock underneath, maybe it is reddish slate or something?

Welcome back!!

The red colour is the make up of the rock.

in all the western movies and books i love so much, I have heard Red Rock many times. Maybe that red color is red rock, or slate. beautiful colors what ever it is. Glad you had so much fun with your new camera.

The color of the water at Crooked Creek make it look just like springs here in Florida.
