Not-So-Super Super Moon

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

Saturday night's moon was called a Super Moon because it had it's closest approach to earth in 18 years. The moon was said to appear to be enormous on the horizon. It wasn't quite so super by the time it popped over the mountains to the east of us, but it was still beautiful.

George, I didn't see that moon until it was in the Southwest. I admire your skill in capturing it. I'm sure you must be using a 300mm lens or better.

You are RIGHT!!! Of course it was beautiful, but I was dissapointed, especially since I almost got arrested trying to snap it. It didn't look any bigger than usual!!! But you got a good picture of it, though. Execptional definition!!

Nice photo, even if not quite as supersized as it would be on the horizon.
Unfortunately, I forgot to look out that evening and missed the whole thing!

I agree with you George. Looks like a rather regular full moon. Nice but no cigar. Your picture is pretty good though.

Congrats on catching the super moon. It was mostly cloudy here on Saturday, so I couldn't get pics on Saturday night.

You got a great shot of the moon there. I was looking at it that night and wondering how many of my blogger friends were out looking at it with me. :-)

After being told by all our media outlets that the 'supermoon' would be an amazing sight, I felt so underwhelmed with it. I just couldn't notice a difference, maybe my eyesight is failing.

You did a nice job of focus and exposure on this. The trouble with photographing the super moon is that it looks pretty much like any other moon photo in a photo.

I toot didn't see much of a difference but it was quite bright that day.

You got a clear shot.

Beautiful shot! I didn't see it until about 2am here in Belgium, but it was big and bright! We had one a few weeks ago or so and it was amazing!
Have a fabulous day!
