Along the Road in New Mexico
(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it. Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)
When Betsy and I travel out west we encounter a landscape completely different to the green mountains of Tennessee. Don’t get me wrong — I think the western landscape is beautiful, but I would probably call it a stark beauty. We encountered this scene along the road in New Mexico. September 8, 2017.

You have been blessed with so much beauty all around. Glad you both still are able to do take wonderful trips.
Yes, stark would be the word. But your header picture is GORGEOUS!
That is gorgeous. I love that blue sky and the contrast it gives.
Oh how gorgeous... It took my breath away when I made that picture full screen on my iMac.. WOW.... That definitely is nothing but stark beauty... Thanks for sharing this one, Honey.
Love,
Wifey
Beautiful. The rocks at the left hand side looks a bit like human face.
What an amazing landscape and beautifully captured. I haven't traveled a lot in New Mexico, but maybe we should add that to our wish list.
It's a world of canyons, cliffs, deserts and like you say stark beauty!
Good photo!
Entirely picturesque and well composed on the landscape!
Your right about stark George. I loved Montanas mountains but drier and drier south. No thanks. My son and family live in a suburb of Phoenix and I miss blue water and green growing things there...
Beautiful...
I agree. When I go out west, I'm always thrilled to come back to Virginia where it's green!
I lived in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona for a decade and LIVED the landscape...heat on the other hand, not so much. Now we retired to the Gulf coast & love it here too.
GREAT IMAGE YOU'VE SHARED
I have not been out west for 40 years. This is such a great sight to see.
