The Crystal Forest
(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it. Clicking a second time will make it full-sized.)
The Crystal Forest is a section of Petrified Forest National Park that was once covered with petrified logs, many of which contained beautiful quartz or amethyst crystals. Many of the petrified logs disappeared before the park was established, but enough remain to show the beauty in the park.

Look at the minerals on the rock! It shows how nature works in mysterious ways to sustain its beauty. It's so unique.
There is so much beauty in those interesting rocks/fossils. It is good to be back home.
How interesting George! I have never seen a thing like that!
Interesting! any value to that piece you found !!!
amazing, did you try to chip out a few pieces to make a ring?
That is really cool looking!
I never paid attention to this before until I got into studying rocks with my boys at school and then I found it so interesting.
I especially love the terrain around volcanoes.
Magic forest George.
That is so neat, George! When you say they 'disappeared' -- does that mean that people took them?
That is one very interesting an fascinating place I have seen.

That is so pretty. I would love to have one of those on my yard.
Gosh, I bet lots of people would take these if they could. I know you said it is forbidden, so how do they stop you from doing this? Are you searched when you leave? Wonder what these gems would be in this one?
Wow, God filled creation with so many fascinating things! That was interesting to studiously gaze upon the enlarged photo for a while.
That has just pretty colors mixed in there. Really cool looking.
It's good to hear that at least some of the petrified logs are still there.
George, you must have enjoyed exploring and learning about the history of the Petrified Forest.
Although dead it still looks wonderful.
Great work.

It is beautiful! I saw a tabletop made from a piece in a shop near Bryce. It was breath-taking! But so was the price!!!
The millions of colours that radiate from that piece is so splendid! That's something I would love to see in person because I imagine it would be even more spectacular. What an image you capture!!!
Oh, wow. It's so beautiful. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before.
woww. what a beautiful scenary. This is natural from the tree?
That must be an awe-inspiring sight. Thanks for this, George.

Greetings my friend.
Kolory takiego skamieniałego drzewa są niesamowite, piękne. Pozdrawiam
Gorgeous colors!
I wouldn't mind that being the color of my kitchen or bath countertop. :)
How I wish I could visit this place and find the biggest quartz or amethyst hehe. ^_^
Great shot. This is a treasure.
George, I almost thought that you found chunk of gold. Anna :)
In New Zealand, we have kauri tree gums. Is this similar?
The Petrified Forest is definitely one of those wonderful N Az places to see! This is a great shot of a log there. I haven't been up that way in years, and it's such an interesting site. Glad you got to go.
The crystals in the wood are beautiful. I can only imagine what a whole forest of petrified wood looks like!
