Floor Show Iris
(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)
This iris, Floorshow, began blooming again last week. We've enjoyed these iris in the Spring and now we're enjoying them again -- at least until we get our first frost.
It is said that King Louis VII of France after winning a battle, he saw that the field was covered with flowers of Iris. He decided to enter the Iris flower in his royal coat of arms and since then the name is Iris 'also' Fleur de Louis. " Over time, there was a confusion that through Fleur de Louis as fleur de Lys, which is French for lily. So it was that the royal coat of arms change 'and had a lily instead of the original Iris.
Wow...and I learned something from your last commenter...eye candy and info...what a bargain!!! Your beautiful iris may bite the dust tonight or tomorrow night...
Gorgeous! My mother really enjoyed it when the iris would bloom in the spring. I appreciate their delicate showiness more as I have aged than I did in my younger days. Roses, daisies, traditional type flowers were more my preference.
What a lovely shot. Seems like the flower wants to live forever just like Christmas trees after they are cut down. We should not cut down Christmas trees but sell them so they can be replanted.

Beautiful, George! I cut all of ours down when I cleaned up the tomato patch.
Lovely color combination. Hope the frost doesn't come too soon.

Enjoy them while you can. :-)
What a totally appropriate name for this beautiful flower!
Love that beige against the purple and white. So interesting and beautiful.
I'm wondering if mine will be able to bloom again before fall. November is really late here.
