Flowers From Our Yard: Fooled Me Day Lily

(This picture can be enlarged by clicking on it.)

Fooled Me is one of the day lilies that bloomed for the first time this year. It's a re-blooming day lily, so we're hoping it will bloom again before winter sets in. We discovered that the deer around us also liked them -- for dinner! Fortunately they left this one blossom so I could get a picture.

Gorgeous flower, I'm not surprised the deer are attracted to them.

No deer in my fenced yard, but we get Pepe LePew (skunks). My little dog gets startled and barks like he's being skewered by a red-hot poker. That seems to work for him though, because this particular dog has never been sprayed.

That's an intense color pattern on the day lily.

All my lilies are finished and it's probably good because the deer are starting to come out of the woods this time of year to eat in the meadows.
Lovely dark center on this one!

You have the same problem with deers as my teacher in Maryland. She has given up gardening.

My mum had trouble with the kangaroos in Australia.
